How to become a member of the Société Honoraire de Français
Do you have a 3.5 GPA overall, and a 93% average (after the three point honor course bump) in all your French courses? If so, you are eligible for membership in the Madison chapter of the National French Honor Society, the Société Honoraire de Français. We have written our constitution, which reflects the national organization’s goals of recognizing (1) excellence in the classroom, (2) the building of an esprit du corps among students of French and showing an enthusiasm for French language and culture, (3) service to the school and (4) service to the local and world community. In order to remain a member in good standing, you must maintain a 3.5 overall GPA and an average grade in all your French classes of 93% (after the three point bump). Should your GPA fall below 3.5, or your French grade average dip below a 93, you will lose the privilege of being a member. Students will have one semester probation to get their grades back up before losing their membership. Any disciplinary action that results in your removal from the National Honor Society or any other organization at Madison Academic will result in your exclusion from La Société Honoraire de Français as well.
